I hope every one had a great Holiday. Our Christmas party was another great
success. I would like to thank Jim Samuelson and John Mazzitello for all
their hard work in putting the party together. Also Thomas McGhee for being
the DJ at the party. We had a great crowd and everyone had a great time.
We also had the Christmas party for Big Brother & Big Sister again this
year. It to was a big success. I would like to thank Lissa Naquin for all
her work on putting this together for the kids. Thanks to your donations,
she had a wrapped gift for each child attending the party. I would like
to thank Fred Attkinson for playing Santa. The kids loved it. Thanks to
Leena Cox for helping Lissa with the gift shopping and wrapping. Also Jim
Samuelson, Rich, Nancy and Chris Barlow, Mike and Danette Kane, Stan Ramer
and Leena Cox for their help at the party. I would like to thank everyone
for electing me as your Director. I thank the out going board members for
all their work making last year such a great success. The new board members
and I will do our best to keep the Chapter moving forward in the year 2000.
Our next Chapter meeting is January 7, at 7pm at the Sunset Inn. I will
have some information on this years State Rally. It will be on Friday and
Saturday June 16,17, 2000. It will be held at the Fair Grounds in Palmer.
There will be on sight camping. Campers and RV's will be able to park/pitch
on Thursday evening. So now is the time to start making your plans for the
Rally.

This will be my last article for the newsletter, so I want to say thank you to everyone for all your help. Keeping up with the membership has been a challenge, but one that I have enjoyed. I ask that you give your new secretary, Evelyn, as much help as you've given me this past three years. I know she'll be great.
Welcome to our new "2000" members and hope to see you at the
January meeting.

Hi,
This being my first column for the Swine Line, I think introductions are
in order. I'm Rich Barlow. For those who don't make many of the rides, I'm
the loud, over-chromed, red and black Wideglide. I'm married to Nancy ,
the loud, over-chromed, ornery one. Finally, there is Nancy's dad who I'll
call Ol' Joe. I'm going to try to keep this column light and interesting
because I've been bored to tears with so many other safety writers over
the years and I would like you to read this. In the winter, I'll try to
touch on some cage safety, too. As for Ol' Joe, he passed away almost twenty
years ago, but his advice kept me from killing myself as I transitioned
from dirt bikes to street bikes. He always rode Harleys starting in the
thirties on model W's to Servi-cars in the seventies. Some of his pearls
of wisdom may be a bit strange, but I've found them all valuable. So for
safety; please leave extra distance between yourself and the next guy in
the winter. Cold brakes are not as efficient as warm ones. Ice patches and
frost can appear in places that were clear a few hours before. Don't take
anything for granted and pay a little extra attention. It may save you a
little on your insurance.
Finally Ol' Joe says "Don't throw your bed role out on the asphalt.
That cold pavement will bring on the rheumatism faster than anything else."

The election is over, with a mixture of old and new faces on this year's board. Change, although difficult at times, normally brings with it fresh energy and new ideas. For those reasons, I look at change with a positive view. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who "threw their hat in the ring". The act itself of running for office denotes a commitment of personal time and effort into making our HOG chapter the best it can be. In my mind, you are all winners and a tremendous asset to our group.
Just a thought:
As the Mileninum approaches we find ourselves bombarded with information
on the many changes that have taken place over the last 1000 years. The
accomplishments are numerous and varied. Some good and some -- well. I find
myself taking pause and thinking about those things that do not change.
Items and issues that have proven the test of time -- and the importance
of both.
As always, if there is a problem or you wish to change the way you receive your copy of The Swine-Line, call 458-7116 in the evening or e-mail: fbkhog@eagle.ptialaska.net

It's a brand new year AGAIN! We are starting off the New Year here at the Outpost with our annual inventory fun. The shop will be closed from Jan. 1st through Jan. 8th. I have already placed my last bike order for the 2000 Model Year and, as usual, this order is completely sold out. The only open bikes at this time are the few left in the showroom. The Spring fever has already started!
With the start of a new year, we have a couple of changes at the shop. Amanda is pursuing other opportunities and will no longer be working with us. Autumn Mabry will be joining our crazy team and helping Jessie up front. Speaking of CRAZY, Gayle's last day working will be around January 21st. She and Rich are Germany bound. If you get a chance, stop by the shop and give her a hard time to remember us by!

Thank you to everyone for a great year. If you received a gift and need that second part to finish the project, come on in and lets make a deal.
