Happy Holidays to everyone!
I would like to say thanks to Thomas & Kathy McGhee for opening their
home to everyone for the Halloween Party. It was a lot of fun for the kids.
We have a lot of talent in our children. I wish everyone could have had
an opportunity to see the pumpkin creations. I would also like to thank
Fred Atkinson, Thomas & Kathy McGhee, & John Mazzitello for the
enjoyable time at the Pajama Party. Sorry we did not have a very big turnout,
but those who did make it to the party had a good time. I hope to be able
to do it again.
My time as secretary is soon coming to an end, and let me tell you, it
has been an experience. It will be one that I will never forget. I would
like to thank everyone for selecting me for this position. I hope I was
able to fulfill the requirements of my position, and help our Chapter grow
in more ways than just numbers. We have made great friends by being a part
of this special group of people. Thanks again for the opportunity.
My successor will be Ms. Brandi Schader. I wish her the best, and I intend to assist her as much as possible to be able to take on the challenge ahead of her. I know everyone will help her in anyway possible to keep her job running smoothly. Please take the opportunity to meet this very neat lady.
I would like to welcome the following new members to our group: Jolene & Ronald Shelton, Ken Boschert, Gus Johnson, Justin Christian, Mike Dowling.
The following chapter members are due to renew: Ruth Knoll, Tim Beck, Dave & Crystal Gotthardt, E. (Wayne) Gilbreath, Jeff & Canndith Dyer, Tim Waller, Frank Wetmore, & John Shank.
Hope to see everyone at the Christmas party. Don't forget to drop off your non-perishable food donations at the shop.
Happy Holidays from the Wood Family!
Evelyn
Well, December. Not a whole lot going on, so this will be
a short one. The holidays are coming as well as cold weather. I know we've
been able to dodge the bullet so far (I'm writing this the middle of November),
but our luck won't hold out forever. With heating oil going through the
roof, I would imagine there is going to be a lot more wood burned than what's
been used the last few years. So, do me a favor and clean that flue, or
get a pro to do it. House fires are a major killer in Alaska, and we've
already had one fatality due to a chimney fire in the local area. Try to
avoid burning spruce or, if you do, get that flue swept regularly. Spruce
is real bad about building up creosote, so take care of things.
Speaking of the holidays, be careful with the decorations. Check light strings for worn or bare spots in the wires. If you find any, throw the string away. It's cheap insurance. Be careful not to overload extension cords or household circuits, especially if you have an older home. If you are decorating big, consult an electrician. Make sure your smoke detector is working and don't leave the cooking unattended. Fires are easy to prevent if you just take a little time to think about preventing them.
Finally, do like the FAA requires, "Twelve hours bottle to throttle." Nuff said on that.
Well, we'll be climbing out of this hole right after Christmas, so keep the faith and we'll all be back in the wind soon.

I also wish to extend my appreciation to those members past, present, and future, who have helped make our Local Chapter one of the best in the nation.
You should receive, or have already received, your ballot listing members willing to devote their energy to our group. Please vote for the member of your choice. And remember, dimpled ballots don't count (or do they?).
One last soapbox issue, then I'm out of here. About two-thirds of your $10.00 annual membership fee is spent for printing and postage of the SwineLine. Granted, that is what the dues are for, but, if you have the ability to receive your copy of the newsletter by e-mail, we can defer those expenses and possibly use the money for a club sponsored event. Food for thought.
As everyone hopefully is aware, this is your newsletter. Any member that would like to submit an article for publication is welcome to do so. Articles for submission need to be placed in the Editor's box at the Outpost or e-mailed to the address below no later than the 20th of the month.
As always, if there is a problem or you wish to change the way you receive your copy of The Swine-Line, call 458-7116 in the evening or e-mail: fbkhog@eagle.ptialaska.net

Hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday with family
and friends. It's just the start to a lot of great food and gift giving.
We want to let all the HOG members know that we will be having a private Hog night on December 14th with 20% Storewide Savings and Selected items up to 50% off. This will include all parts and accessories on this night only. We will close at our regular time at 6pm, and will open up at 7pm until 10pm for you special HOG members. We would greatly appreciate any volunteers (I know there are some men out there that are great cooks.) to bring a dish or dessert on that night to save Becky and Carrie from having to cook. (You really don't want us to cook, it might be scary.) You are welcome to call if you need any suggestions. John will be on the grill, cooking brats and burgers, and Santa will be here to take pictures with the kids.
A reminder that we will be closed on Dec. 24th & 25th for Christmas, and again on Dec. 31st through Jan 7th for the New Years and inventory. We will re-open on Monday, Jan. 8th at 10 am. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday and if you were really good, Santa might bring you a bright red Harley for under the tree.
Service:
The shop will be having free pick-up and delivery on motorcycles throughout the month of December. 20% off all parts and accessories that are installed. (Only on HOG night, can you have 20% off without installation.)
From the Ladies,
Well, we have had a few get togethers this last month. We had Hair Daze / LOH Meeting where we talked about future events we thought might be fun, received tips on how to tame bike hair, and what to do with it through the winter. Thank you, Maria Dunham, for your hospitality.
We decorated Thomas and my house for the Halloween party on Friday and partied on Saturday. Thanks to all who helped make that event fun. It was great watching so many kids participating in the pumpkin-carving contest. Like Thomas said, we had the pajama party as well.
We could use some help on wrapping gifts for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. If that is something you would like to do, give me a call at 490-0375 by Sunday, December 10th, for more details.
It has been because of all of you that the HOG support of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Christmas event has been so successful. See your contributions at work and join us at the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Building on Wendall Street (on the south side of the bridge) for the joy of watching the kids open up their gifts. This will happen on Thursday night, December 13th, at 6:00. Join us there before heading to the shop for their Christmas gig.
Speaking of the Harley shop's gig, John and Cindy Haddad are springing for the main event of food, and we are asked to bring the supporting dishes. Anything edible will be good. So, thanks in advance to those who help make that get together an enjoyable one.
It's that time of year again. This is more than likely my last newsletter. Thank you all for supporting me as your LOH Officer. I learned that lots of people have ideas and suggestions, but even the best ideas go by the wayside if you don't have people willing to commit to participating. There is a lot of highway out there, and to see more women riders was always my main goal. That happened anyway! Just remember to ride where you are comfortable and never mind the rest.
See you on the road,
Kathy McGhee
Road Captain,
Well, two great events have passed since the last newsletter. The Halloween party and bond fire were pretty spooky. Donny and Evelyn Wood sure need some dental advice. Seems their heritage goes all the way back to Uncle Bubba. The kids did some great pumpkins and all seemed to enjoy themselves.
Our first pajama party was enlightening. I really wonder, though, if some of those people do sleep in those rags. One of the nicest things about these events has been the opportunity for family gatherings. If you weren't there, you wouldn't understand the fun we had with the adults and kids of all ages. It's nice to see more family fun together. During the riding season, it's hard to include the kids.
I would like to see more of the members enjoy the festivities. So, if there's something that you would like to see, then let your activities director know. We can't have too many ideas.
The food drive for the Food Bank has been a success. I have had the pleasure of delivering 15 turkeys and lots of can food to the Food Bank on behalf of the HOG's and The Farthest North Outpost. Debbie Hoglan was the Nov. 20th winner of the first $150.00 gift certificate, but don't let that stop you from entering more can food, for the next drawing to be held Dec. 20th. Five Cans of food will get you a ticket for the drawing, and you can enter as often as you like.
Well, I would like to wish all of you the Happiest of Holidays and a wonderful celebration of the birth of Jesus.
God Bless You,
Thomas McGhee
Well, boys and girls, it is that time of the month again to let you know what is happening on the road. I held up in Texas for a couple of weeks, before I came back home. It was hot down there, so it was nice to get back to Alaska for some cool weather. It was nice seeing you guys at the HOG meeting and really nice to finally win a 50/50. All these years of coughing up money and never winning, but I am still behind several hundred dollars. Oh, well, maybe I will catch up some day, but more likely will get further behind.
Now, you folks can thank me for all the warm weather we have had. Since I have been here, it has only been to -10 degrees in North Pole one time. The rest of the time above 0 degrees, so I know it must be because I am here. I am headed back to Texas on the 28th of November, then off to New Mexico and Arizona around the 1st of December. I am looking forward to perpetual summer. You folks have a great and safe Christmas Party and a wonderful New Year.
Congratulations to the new officers, you have a lot of work to do over the next year, so good luck. Work hard and keep this HOG Chapter the best one around. See you guys next time around.
God Bless,
Chicken Joe
