Hey gang! By now everyone should be in the mid-summer riding
phase, dodging rain drops and relishing those sunny days. It always seems
like after the 4th of July we're on the down hill slide but this year I'm
doing my best to keep a positive attitude. We still have a few weekend get-togethers
left for the season so check the events calendar to see what's happening.
The Thursday night bike night at the Badger Den did not pan out like we
thought it would so Tim says no more burger specials. We will continue to
be there on Thursday but you'll have to order off the menu for dinner. Thanks
to Jimmy King for being there every week cooking! As always, if you have
any ideas on making something like this a success, we would like to hear
from you. Enjoy the riding season while you can and hope to see some of
you on the road. Ride safe and ride free.

Please help us to update the chapter's membership roster. All local members must be a member of national H.O.G. before joining the local H.O.G. chapter. If you joined the local H.O.G chapter by completing an application at the Shop, but did not become a national H.O.G member first you need to do that. You can become a National member by going to the Shop or on-line at http://www.hog.com. If you have questions please contact Lori Price or Aleshia Purcell at the Outpost. If you have different information please let us know.

Well every one the Rally has come and gone. I worked my
tail off for it and were we ever tired afterwards. I personally want to
Thank all those who helped set up the tables and chairs with me and for
me. A big thanks to those of you who took it upon yourselves to take them
down on Saturday night. It's the volunteers who help to make these Rallys
a big success. It would not have happened without those of you who came
out and helped. I want to thank, Rhonda Procell, for getting the Young
Native Dancers for our Saturday night entertainment. They certainly did
a good job. That was a bit of Alaskan flavor for our Alaska State HOG
Rally. I talked to two of the vendors afterwards and they are willing to
come back for the next Fairbanks rally. The ear plugs vendor, Tom Plowman
his wife and son, were happy with what they did. Romana was very happy with
the business she did with her Bead work. She was quite pleased. These people
even had fun watching all of us and talking with different ones about their
bikes. So who ever is Rally Director in 2007 needs to give these people
a call, to get them back. We're still having Dinner rides on Tuesday nights.
It's just a chance to come out and ride with fellow HOG members and share
your riding stories and other things with every one. Every one is invited,
the more the merrier. The schedule is on the board at the Harley shop,
and there are extra copies there too. Now were burning day light! Keep
the Rubber side down and the Chrome side up. Hope to see you in the wind.
Nancy

Members who receive the Swine-Line through the mail and
would like to begin receiving an e-mail version are asked to forward their
e-mail address to me at c.gollwitzer1@gci.net.
In addition to cutting down on the newsletter mailing costs members who
request e-mail distribution will receive monthly activities updates when
available. The deadline for submissions to be included in the Swineline
is the 15th of the month. Note: The next Swineline will be
published in October. Talk to you then.

Please ride safe and watch out for the other guy. With the recent rise in DUIs be extra vigilant

Summer is in mid-swing and going fast. The Rally was a great time and the Yukon Rally in Whitehorse was a good time. A long ride to get there and the Rally was not as big as ours but still a good time was had by all that went.. August is going to busy for everyone as we start to get ready for winter but there are still a few events planned. Hope to see you at some of the events. Thursday night burger burns at the Badger Den have been cancelled, however, the Bike Night is still on.

The time has come to pass the baton. I've been webmaster for 6-7 years, along with Editor for a couple years and It is time for some new ideas. The web site has become stale. I've felt it, so I'm sure you folks would agree. New participation brings alternate views, and folks are energized when they start a new adventure. All positive aspects. It's why I believe you should never vote for an incumbant. ( but that's another issue)
For anyone interested, contact the Board, since I believe it is an appointed position, then, drop me a line and we can go over all the paticulars. If there is no interest, then September 1 the site disappears - as should be!
Computers have diminished in price to the point where software is a large part of the cost. You can buy a desktop computer (less monitor & shipping) for $250.00 to $300.00. The rest of the cost is software. With the advent of Linux and the Open Software Foundation, you can outfit your computer with all the software you need for free and interesting enough, many of the software programs written for Linux have versions that run on Windows. I will attempt to review one cross platform software program in each copy of the newsletter so the windows users can sample what Linux software has to offer.
